Our Ethos

When I was young, my great-grandmother, knitted me pair of walking boot socks to my exact measurements. In my memory, they were the warmest, comfiest socks I have ever owned. My Great-Grandmother, and the socks she knitted are the inspiration for The Hand Knitted Sock Company.
My Great-Grandmother passed away many years ago, but I want to wear these hand-crafted socks When I was out in the country, so I found someone who could knit me a new pair.
I have since have gathered a team of artisans to handknit these luxury items so you can enjoy them to.
Supporting UK Farmers,
Supporting UK Pensioners,
Supporting the UK Economy.
To support our British farmers, we only use UK sourced wool, that has been ethically produced without animal suffering.
To keep money in the UK Economy, we only use UK based knitters. However, it doesn’t end there.
The removal of the UK winter fuel allowance hit some UK pensioners hard, so to support UK Pensioners, we try and work with older knitters to help them cover this lost income, while participating in a hobby they love.

Reduce-Reuse-Recycle

Woolen socks contain Lanolin, a natural oil, which helps keep the socks clean, and unlike man-made fibres, merino wool is resistant to developing odours. This all combines to mean… less washing, Less water, Less Chemicals, and less micro-plastics in our ocean.
